Introducing Thorpe-Bowker Information Services

Thorpe-Bowker has been supplying information about and to the Australian book trade for over eight decades.

At the heart of Thorpe-Bowker Information Services is our database of Australian books in print, which has been compiled and constantly updated and expanded since the 1950s. Thorpe-Bowker has the most comprehensive collection of data about Australian books in the world. It has been further enhanced with the addition of the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) agency in 1997.

Thorpe-Bowker’s database also includes comprehensive information about publishers, distributors, series and agents for overseas publishers.

Thorpe-Bowker also gathers information about overseas-published books distributed in this country, including their local distributors and local recommended retail price.

Thorpe-Bowker’s office in New Zealand compiles a unique database of publishers and books in that nation.

Publishers can now submission detailed information about their publications, and update them, using the free online BowkerLink system. Click here for further information on BowkerLink.

To be eligible for inclusion in our database, a book must have an ISBN (International Standard Book Number). More information about ISBNs please click here.

To be eligible for inclusion in Australian Books in Print, books must also be Australian published.
